Cooking Diaries: Simple Brownie Recipe!

I love to bake! It all started May 2011, when boredom got the best of me. It was when the universe decided it'd be a great idea to move my sister on other side of the country; and my brother 30 minutes away from home. I had a huge house to myself, with no one to share it with - well, my parents, but they don't count haha.
From fondant cakes , blueberry custard tarts , and most recently, macarons, I feel like I've really gotten a feel for all things sweet. If you follow me on Instagram, you would definitely know! What I've been trying to say is, I want to slow things down a bit. Keep it simple, ya know?

Two days ago, I helped my friend Brianna bake Jack Daniel's brownies for her boyfriend. It was a complete fail. The recipe we found on the internet called for too many ingredients which meant a trip to Wally World and spending more money that we don't have. In the end, our brownies were flat and waaay too goey for our liking. I would say the only good thing out of this recipe was the whiskey ganache!  haha figures.

But no fear! Brianna's mom's recipe is here! I swear, this recipe only needs a few ingredients that you can find in your pantry.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 3 tbs cocoa
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 stick of melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

and that's it! This recipe makes about 12 brownies in an 8x8 pan.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

In a small bowl, mix coca, sugar, and flour together and set aside. In a separate medium bowl, slightly beat the eggs together. Then add vanilla extract and melted butter to the egg mixture. You can save some butter to grease your pan like I did here:

Slowly pour the dry ingredients (cocoa, flour, and sugar bowl) to the wet ingredients and mix together. Once fully incorporated, pour batter into the pan and bake for 25-30 minutes!

I love licking the spoon. My favorite part about baking. Salmonella? Mooooove over.

And you're done! I love how these brownies aren't too fudgey and not too cakey either. I love it. If you want, you can even go crazy and add walnuts or chocolate chips. It's a perfect base for your wildest dessert imagination! Enjoy :)
